Born in Ghana, Musah Swallah’s work is rooted in emotion, material, and lived experience. Across cork, welded wood, canvas, and paper, his practice reflects a deep respect for process and form, transforming everyday and natural materials into works that feel deliberate and enduring.

His use of saturated color carries feeling across each surface quiet intensity, reflection, and joy—allowing emotion to move freely between mediums without excess or spectacle. Swallah’s figurative works—women at rest in pools, moments of intimacy, figures framed by fabric—are rendered with calm authority, offering images of strength and presence without performance.
In his In the Artist Studio series, he pays tribute to influential Black artists by placing them within the private space of creation itself, acknowledging artistic lineage while asserting his own voice.
